Signal flow
The best way to get a good sound for your voice or instrument is to take every effort to make it sound good at the source.
If you record a vocal part on a microphone designed for use on a bass drum, or use a low quality cable that creates background noise, there's only so much in post-production that can be done and most of that will be salvaging the audio to a mediocre quality.
Getting the sound right at the source ensures we're 90% of the way there to getting the track we want, giving greater flexibility at the mixing stage for experimentations rather than corrections.
